Some Self Promotion

Vivid Image - Postcards

I’ve just worked this up for some square postcards and a3s. A fairly quick evenings work.
Head of an eagle over an art nouveau lady. 18th century map in the background with a skull plus machinery hat. Notice the man scaling the rope too.

Hopefully this will help get me some work, fuck knows, something has to.

Oh yeah and add a comment / get me a message if you need any work done.

The Fall: Are You Are Missing Album?

How did I miss this lump of genius? Apart from the fact they’ve released about 70 records, that is.

Heavy, weird, electro-ish nonsense.
Right I’m off to the shop. Maybe later on. I believe they’re shut right now.

UPDATE – Yeah, there’s definitely something in this. I can usually tell cos I have to come back to it, like a rubbernecker past a car crash. Highlights (so far): ‘Cyber-Insekt’, ‘Way Round’ and for a great name ‘Ketamine Sun’.
This album is so far ahead of anyone else it’s like the hover car.

Minor Pilot: New gig | New Artwork

Howdy. As I’ve just worked this up I thought I’d do a show n tell.

Sleaford Mods: On film

Sleaford mods-header

This just out from The Quietus. A little interview with Jason and Andrew which goes nicely against what you’d expect, that is, just cos it’s simply a good old fashioned chat. You know that thing where folk just talk and there’s no stupid editing to make up whatever daft angle / opinion that the hack wants to put over. Also intriguing seeing Jason doing a few tracks straight to camera without music. It really makes you focus on the sharpness of his delivery. It’s clever too where he puts his emphasis* to jolt you while the rhythm hammers along in its groove; the sound and feel of a train barrelling down the line. (* “Heart-stopper BOOM!” )

Michael Gira talks to The Quietus

Swans__SebastienSighell03_1399372028_crop_550x712

Gahd I’m so slow on the uptake. And I love the Quietus but guess I haven’t been doing much proper reading /searching lately……so I missed this. Idiot!

So here’s just a simple link to John Doran’s interview from a month ago with Michael Gira. It’s pretty revealing (even for a big Swans fan).

Gallon Drunk at Dingwalls – Nov 07 (a repost)

For you folk hopping my way at the minute from their site who don’t want the hassle of searching for this here, here it is….

These were some of the best gig shots I’ve done but only cos of the lighting (pure RGB). I just did 2 or 3 seconds long exposures on ‘slow sync’ flash for all the motion.

The night was an absolute one off. 1. It’s Dingwalls. 2. They had Barry ‘Scratchy’ Myers, the Clash’s tour dj, doing the music all night off classic 50s 7inches. 3. All the quiffs and beehives were out in force. Some of the guys there looked like made men. Seriously. 4. Support was from Jim Jones Revue who tore the place up. 5. Gallon Drunk were touring for The Rotten Mile, an unbelievably full on album. When they played ‘All Hands Lost At Sea’ off it, the song has such a swaying motion which, combined with James leading from the front of the stage, was just like watching a ship with the captain bellowing out over the thrashing waves. Really.

Gallon Drunk: Borderline – 29th Nov 2007

Here’s a few but please head to my flickr for the rest.
From what my brain can remember it was a good night in a pretty small venue. James thrashing around, Ian powering away, Simon Wring chundering the bass end and Terry parping madly and wielding the maracas. These shots are during my tripped out phase so excuse the trails and fog.

A big thanks

James @ the 100 Club

Thanks to Gallon Drunk themselves for sharing my Lexington link and then all you lovely folk for heading my way to have a nose.

You managed to give me 525 views in one night from the UK via the US all the way to Hungary.

If any of you chose to come back this way for more then have a good look about. There’s rambling crap, made up shit but most of all, if you search ‘gallon drunk’ you’ll find 100 club, dingwalls and also 2010 lexington photos.

As a great big smooch of a ‘ta’ I’m going to post some shots later today from their Borderline gig back in 2007. Most of these were only ever on myspace before this so not really seen on my page. However the band did have some tagged on theirs so some of you might have seen these before.

Anyway, cheers tons. I love you all but I did think wordpress had broken as my views are usually next to zero ha ha.

Gallon Drunk: The Lexington – 21st April 2014

A storming night for their latest album ‘The Soul of The Hour’.
As the set progressed humidity reached such daft levels that folk were about to liquify. The band looked like they’d been hosed down and such an onslaught of sound in combination with the lights creating a psychedelic fog, was fairly mindbending.
Memorable too for me getting to meet & share shooting space with Steve Gullick. No pressure. Ahem!

Gallon Drunk – The Lexington – for the whole lot on flickr

Sat eve memo: as promised I’ll post some of the Borderline 2007 shots in the next hour. So pop back in a bit. They’re all a bit trippy (see below).

Blue Terry

Public School Japes

So me, Pongo and Nutkins Minor crept into Stinky Jackson’s study while he was asleep. We put a violincello string loosely round his neck then set his slippers on fire. When the smell of smoke woke him and he bent down to put them out he garotted himself.

I tell you when they found him in the morning we got a right telling off.
Wizard pranks. ho ho ho.
